Cuban Revelations and Expectations

Homer Simpson as Che Guevara. Interesting image, but especially amusing now, and not one I expected to see on a t-shirt on a recent visit to Venice, which is where I took this picture.

When news broke last week about Obama's decision to scrap the old Cuba policy and end the island's 50-year isolation from the the United States, I wrote a quick column on the current event.

I was thinking back on another article I had written 32 years earlier.  I am pleased to see that the St. Petersburg Times reprint of my September 1982 story in The Washington Post about Cuba's revolution of lowered expectations is available online without having to search through a paywall.
