I started this blog in the Delta lounge at JFK a few days after the fourth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States while waiting for a flight back to Europe and the Middle East. It's a cobbled-together thing on a prefab template, but I thought it might serve as a useful informal forum for friends, acquaintances and some of the hundreds of readers who comment on my Shadowland columns for Newsweek.com each week.
